To shape the felt, long triangular strips are normally removed from the material to make it bend. These experiments invert that process, taking that waste material, and inserting it in simple cuts. By adding material instead of removing it, the felt bends without creating waste or having to be connected to a separate surface to hold its shape. But it also adds a graphic element to the material and allows for the creation of several different structures.
